Ahok Has Not Yet Thought Of Withdrawing His Family's Defamation Case Report
JAKARTA - The President Commissioner of PT Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) through his attorney, Ahmad Ramzy, said he had forgiven the two suspects of defamation and insulting his family. However, the legal process will continue.
"He said that he had never had a problem and never had a grudge against anyone," Ramzy told VOI, Saturday, August 1.
However, the legal process against the two suspects, KS and EJ, will continue. This is because, he said, his client had no plans to withdraw the report.
"It is too early to withdraw the report because it is still being investigated," said Ramzy.
Furthermore, when asked about whether Ahok would meet the two suspects, Ramzy could not confirm it. Communication with his client has not led to this.
"I have not asked (about meeting the suspect)," said Ramzy.
Previously, the police arrested two suspects of defamation and insulting Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and his family. They were arrested at different locations. KS was secured by Bali, while the suspect EJ was in Medan, North Sumatra.
The arrests were made after the police moved to follow up on Ahok's lawyer on May 17. From the results of the investigation, the perpetrator claimed to be a supporter of Veronica Tan, Ahok's ex-wife.
Because of their actions, the two suspects were charged under Article 27 paragraph 3 and Article 45 paragraph 3 Law Number 11 Year 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE). Both face a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.
