Vice President: Handling COVID-19 In Indonesia Is In The Best Category

SAMARINDA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia was in the best category in the world, so that transmission cases became sloping.

“Thank God, we are among the best, what in the world (us) is considered yellow, it is almost green. This is thanks to real cooperation and efforts," said the Vice President during the Scientific Oration for the 7th Anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) East Kalimantan at the Grand Ballroom of the Bumi Senyiur Hotel, Samarinda, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

Ma'ruf Amin appreciated all levels of local government, community leaders, and religious leaders who played a role in overcoming COVID-19 cases.

The COVID-19 pandemic does not only have an impact on the health sector but also in the social and economic fields, so the role of the entire community is needed in handling it.

"I express my gratitude to the government, governors, community ranks, community leaders, and scholars who continue to struggle to control COVID-19," continued Ma'ruf Amin.

The vice president reminded all levels of government, local governments, and the public to remain vigilant against the possibility of a third wave of COVID-19 cases spike.

A number of developed countries have experienced an increase in cases of COVID-19 transmission due to ignoring health protocols.

"We must not be complacent, remain vigilant, because many other countries that had been declining before but continued to rise again. In Europe, there are 23 percent, even 43 percent,” said Ma'ruf Amin.

Vice President Ma'ruf hopes that the current condition of COVID-19 transmission in Indonesia can be maintained and suppressed without having to experience a third wave.
