Surprised That PTN's UKT Is Increasingly Skyrocketing, House Of Representatives Commission X: Strange, Budget From The State Budget Is Already Big

JAKARTA - The chairman of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Syaiful Huda, admitted that he was surprised by the increase in education costs, including the Single Lecture Money (UKT) which skyrocketed in several State Universities (PTN).

In fact, said Huda, the government has allocated a large APBN (State Budget) fund for education.

"Recently, students and parents have complained about the high Lecture Money Tunggal (UKT) at various state campuses. In addition, the guardians of students also have a lot of objections to the existence of various public school fees with committee money packs, activity money, to non-bonded donations," said Huda, Saturday, May 18.

Huda explained, Indonesia has implemented mandatory spending of 20 percent of the APBN for the education budget. In fact, said Huda, this year the government has disbursed a fee of Rp665 trillion from the APBN for education. "So it is a bit strange when the component of the cost of education from students skyrockets day by day, even though the allocation of the education budget from the APBN is also relatively large," said the West Java electoral district legislator.

Huda is also worried that the high cost of education will threaten the target to realize Indonesia Gold in 2045. Therefore, according to him, Commission X of the DPR will create a Working Committee (Panja) to ensure that the cost of education in Indonesia remains affordable.

Commission X of the DPR, continued Huda, will summon stakeholders managing education budgets such as the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Bappenas, and local governments. Ria hopes that the formation of the Panja can investigate the factors that make the cost of education in Indonesia even more expensive.

"The Working Committee will also find out whether all institutions that manage the education budget are according to their needs in the field or whether there is a need for improvement. Either related to distribution patterns, management patterns, to target determination," he concluded.
