JAKARTA - As the party that won the 2024 DKI Jakarta DPRD legislative election with the biggest vote acquisition, PKS has a big chance to carry the candidate for Governor of DKI in November.

Secretary of the DKI Jakarta PKS Regional Leadership Council (DPW) Abdul Aziz said that his party had prepared three party cadres to become candidates for the Governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

Aziz said the three names were PKS President Sohibul Iman, PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera, and DPW PKS DKI Jakarta Chairman Khoirudin.

"In terms of proposals, from DKI, from the DPP, there are already inputs. There is the deputy chairman of the board of Mr. Khoirudin, Mr. Mardani Ali Sera, there is former PKS President Mr. Sohibul Iman. The figures are from within," Aziz told reporters, Wednesday, April 17.

However, the decision to choose the figure to be promoted in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada is the authority of the Central Leadership Council (DPP). The determination uses a certain mechanism.

"The DPP also doesn't decide carelessly. There is still a mechanism first, maybe we can see track records and so on. Now, a special meeting will be held to discuss the Pilkada, one of which is DKI," said Aziz.

On the one hand, PKS also does not rule out the opportunity to carry external figures to be promoted in the regional elections in Jakarta. One of the most prominent names is Anies Baswedan. Anies is the former Governor of DKI Jakarta who was promoted by PKS in 2017.

However, the 2024 presidential election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK) has not yet been completed. Where, Anies became one of the applicants for the case with his presidential and vice presidential candidate pair, Muhaimin Iskandar.

"When we talk about the DKI gubernatorial election, it seems as if we are sure to lose and so on. We don't want that. We want this to be fought for maximally in the Constitutional Court. After the Constitutional Court's decision, we will see how the decision is, then we will take care of it for the governor of Jakarta," he explained.
