JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that currently there are 1,500 convalescent plasma donors that have been collected at the Jakarta Red Cross (PMI).

Convalescent plasma is blood plasma taken from a patient diagnosed with COVID-19 and has been declared cured of COVID-19 for 14 days as evidenced by a negative RT-PCR swab test once with a negative result.

"So far, 1,500 people have participated in conventional plasma donors at PMI DKI Jakarta", said Riza at the PMI DKI Jakarta Office, Tuesday, February 2.

Apart from conventional plasma donors, Riza also appealed to healthy people to participate in blood donation activities. This is because the number of people who have donated blood since the pandemic has dropped dramatically to around 200 people.

"We also ask the residents to participate in blood donations. Because according to the data, an ideal day is 1,000 even 1,500 blood donors. For conventional plasma donors, hopefully, this can help COVID-19 patients who need plasma", he said.

On this occasion, Riza also volunteered to donate convalescent plasma. Because Riza is one of the people who has been exposed to the coronavirus and has recovered.

The series that was followed by Deputy Governor Ariza were monitoring, taking blood, and scheduling convalescent plasma donors. "In the next few days there will be a plasma donor", he said.

Riza hopes that in the future there will be more COVID-19 survivors who are willing and participating to donate convalescent plasma.
