MATARAM - A tourist from Portugal, Boaz Bar Anam was reported to have had an accident falling into a 150-meter-deep ravine on Mount Rinjani, Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Head of the Mount Rinjani National Park (BTNGR) Dedy Asriady confirmed the incident based on a report from the Head of Research at TNGR Sembalun, East Lombok Regency.

"We received a report from the Head of the Sembalun TNGR Resort that Trekking Organize (TO) Rudy Trekker provided information on one of his clients on behalf of Boaz Bar Anam (male), a Portuguese national. At 05.30 a.m. local time, he had an accident at the top of Rinjani," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 19.

Dedy said the position of the victim fell on the slopes of the northwest or the direction of Lake Segara Anak, Mount Rinjani. The distance of the victim fell about 150 meters and is estimated to have died.

Two other guests were brought down by a tour guide on behalf of Bullah, via the Bawak Nao hiking trail, Sajang, Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency.

The victim was registered to climb through the Sembalun entrance on August 18, 2022.

"Based on information from TO and the tour guide, the victim before the fall took a selfie on the edge of the cliff at the peak of Rinjani," said Dedy.

For handling victims, the TNGR Search, Rescue and Evacuation (P2E) Task Force Team, continued Dedy, communicating with the East Lombok Search and Rescue Unit (SAR), and Mataram SAR and Edelweis Medical Health Center (EMHC) Team and the Lombok Resort Police Inafis team. East.

At 10.15 a.m., he said, the EMHC team and the Sembalun TNGR Resort team made preparations for the evacuation as a preliminary team, and would join the SAR team.
