JAKARTA - In the digital era, companies are competing to have as many customers as possible with the aim of getting user data. Obtained user data certainly has many benefits, although it is not always in the form of money. Some companies also use the data as a recommendation engine to strengthen their business.
In the previous seminar, the VOI team together with Fajar Jaman had discussed several things about the importance of the state's readiness and especially the community to understand the development of big data. Starting from "Indonesia's Readiness to Face the Development of Big Data", "Rubber Articles and Disadvantages of the PDP Bill", and also "Viewing Data as a Business Commodity". This chat opened our eyes that our personal data could be used very easily by service providers for business advantage. Therefore, the Personal Data Protection Bill (PDP) needs to be completed very carefully by the government.
As a data practitioner who has been working for 10 years, Fajar Jaman fully understands the benefits of this personal data. He also highlighted the importance of user knowledge to always read the approval for application use or when registering with a service provider website on the internet. Unfortunately, there are still many users who go through the process without reading it clearly. In such cases, it means that the user has consented or agreed. Many users still don't understand the consequences when their personal data is used.
