Delay A Day, Arianespace Finally Launched 12 Satellites With Vega Rockets

JAKARTA - Arianespace, a commercial satellite company, canceled its Vega rocket launch on October 6. This cancellation was carried out within hours of launch.

According toSpace records, Arianespace canceled the launch to carry out a final check before takeoff. Vega's rocket is only delayed, not a complete cancellation.

Upon inspection, Vega launched the day after that from the Guiana Space Center carrying 12 satellites weighing 1,242 kilograms into orbit. This launch is Vega's first mission in 2023, but is the company's third launch mission.

The Vega rocket debuted in 2012 and has so far been 22 times the most. Vega is designed with a height of 30 meters and a load of 1,500 kilograms. However, Vega used in this mission is different from Vega before, namely Vega-C.

The mission with this Vega rocket is named VV23. On the 7 October flight, VV23 carried twelve payloads. Two of the payloads included THEOS-2 and FormoSat-7R/Triton, respectively from Thailand and Taiwan.

The FormoSat-7R/Triton charge, according to the release of Arianespace, is equipped with a Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry (GNSS-R). This system is capable of collecting signals from the sea and calculating wind fields at sea.

Meanwhile, ten of its traffic charges were not planned by Arianespace. However, the company said that the other ten items were CubeSat with various configurations.
