State Of Cybersecurity ASEAN 2023: 90 Percent Of Companies In Asia Pacific Believe In Its Security System

JAKARTA - On Monday, September 18, global cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Network shared a State of Cybersecurity report on the cybersecurity trend that occurred in the Asia Pacific region.

The report reveals that there are about 90 percent of companies in the region are confident that the security measures they take can protect themselves from cyber threats out there.

As for Indonesia itself, there are 93 percent of organizations that feel they are quite confident in the cybersecurity measures they have implemented at this time.

"The company's confidence in their cybersecurity defense measures shows that the company has and will continue to be resilient to the growing variety of cyber threats," Steven Scheurmann, Regional Vice President for ASEAN on the Palo Alto Networks told the media, in a briefing in Jakarta.

On the other hand, Steven added that this belief needs to be accompanied by vigilance. A proactive approach to cybersecurity is needed at this time, thus requiring the active role of all parties in the organization.

However, there are still at least three challenges facing organizations and companies in the region, including an increased security risk from unmonitored IoT devices (60 percent), an increase in digital transactions with third-party suppliers (47 percent), and a risk from private devices and home internet networks accessing the company's network (47 percent).

Given the challenges, cybersecurity issues are still a top priority for the company. It is recorded that more than 53 percent of companies in Indonesia state that cybersecurity is a topic that is often discussed at the board of directors level every quarter.

This is the reason for 63 percent of organizations in Indonesia to increase their budget allocated for cybersecurity in 2023.

As many as 75 percent of companies in Indonesia allocate their budget in the sector, which positions Indonesia as the highest in the Asia Pacific region.
