From 2018 To September 2023, Ministry of Communication and Information Has Blocked 938,106 Online Gambling Content

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information continues to handle online gambling content by terminating website access or taking down content containing online gambling content.

Kominfo noted that from 2018 to September 6, 2023, 938,106 online gambling content had been cut off and tookdowm.

Meanwhile, from July to September 2023 itself, Kominfo has cut off access and takedown of 124,439 online gambling content spread across various sites, sharing content platforms and social media.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also succeeded in finding 8,823 contacts and accounts suspected of being related to online gambling sites, and has asked banks to block or participate in blacklist account numbers or bank accounts suspected of being involved in online gambling activities during August 2023.

On the other hand, in the midst of the controversy over the discourse of Wulan Guritno, a public figure who promotes online gambling sites, wanting to be used as an Online Anti-Judiate Ambassador, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that anyone could become an Online Anti-Judy Ambassador.

"Don't cut my previous statement. I mean, both society, artists, celebrities, influencers, media crews, all of us, if possible, become anti-judicial ambassadors online. I don't give support to certain figures," Budi said in his official broadcast.

Minister Budi Arie stated that there is no need for a special selection to make someone an online anti-juddy ambassador.

"This is not about one artist, yes, everything, celebgrams, or anyone else. We can foster artists who are suspected of promoting online gambling to become online antijudicial ambassadors," he said.

However, Budi emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Informatics still respects the legal process related to other artists or celebrities by the Indonesian Police.
