Update: Kominfo Will Complete 23 Percent Of The Remaining 4G BTS Project Construction This Year

JAKARTA - In the midst of the ongoing legal process, the Ministry of Communication and Information will still complete the construction of the 4G BTS project this year, in accordance with President Joko Widodo's mandate.

However, Kominfo still cannot make a decision regarding when this project will be continued, the vendor that will be used, and the development costs that will be provided. This is because Kominfo is still discussing with the Attorney General's Office.

"Yes, if the target is, the Minister of Communication and Informatics hopes that by the end of this year everything will be completed, this is still there," said Director General of IKP Kominfo Usman Kansong when confirmed by VOI regarding the deadline for discussions with the AGO, on Monday, August 14.

Usman also said that currently there are 1,690 locations that have not been built by BTS 4G, out of a total of 5,618 BTS towers. This means that BAKTI Kominfo still has to complete 23 percent of the target.

"There are 1,690 locations that have not been built, yes, so 4,341 locations or 77 percent have been built. The target is 5,618, now we want to pursue another 23 percent," said Usman.

On the other hand, Kominfo Minister Budi Arie Setiadi officially inaugurated Fadillah Mathar as President Director of BAKTI Kominfo on Monday, August 14 at the Ministry of Communication and Information office in Jakarta.

As the new Director of BAKTI, Fadillah promised to restore public trust in BAKTI, by improving BAKTI's internal governance, as soon as possible.

"We will restore public trust in accordance with President Jokowi's mandate, and accelerate internet acceleration in all regions," Fadillah told the media crew.
