JAKARTA - Based on the results of the 2022 Kaspersky IT Security Economics survey, which shows that about 22 percent of data leakage in the MSME sector is caused by employees. In many cases, this occurs due to negligence or lack of employee awareness.
Although accidental errors or neglect of cybersecurity policies were the cause of most leaks, the security manager reported that about a third (36 percent) of the leaks triggered by employees constitute intentional acts of sabotage or espionage.
These examples show how former employees, in an attempt to take revenge, could cause real harm to their previous recruiters.

According to Kaspersky, the high number of cyber incidents originating from employees shows that all organizations require thorough cybersecurity awareness training to teach staff how to avoid general security errors.
"Business must use endpoint protection with a detection capability and threat reaction to reduce the risk of attacks and data breaches. To reduce the possibility of incidents caused by employees, a thorough cybersecurity awareness training that teaches how to prevent general threats is also needed," explained Adrian Hia, Managing Director for Asia Pacific, at Kaspersky.
