VMware Successfully Added 19 Sovereign Cloud Service Providers Over Last 12 Months

JAKARTA - Today, businesses across Southeast Asia are turning to cloud sovereignty to deal with the increasingly complex dynamics of data protection and privacy regulations, and the need for businesses to transform at scale for growth.

In response to growing market demand, VMware as a leading multi-cloud service provider, has engaged 19 partners in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region in the last 12 months to offer cloud sovereignty capabilities to its customers including in key countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia.

According to an IDC survey, in a White Paper entitled "Deploying the Right Data to the Right Cloud in Regulated Industries" in June 2021, as many as sixty-three percent of respondents stated that it is very important to have a cloud solution that provides full jurisdictional control and authority over data. This proves that cloud infrastructure that provides data transparency and visibility and strictly controls data residency is increasingly needed by businesses today.

In today's evolving cloud technology landscape, organizations need support to navigate the complexities of the multi-cloud journey.

In addition, as digital transformation brings greater reliance on data, countries across Asia also need to intensify efforts to develop data governance strategies and legislation to enforce laws that focus on privacy, protection and security.
