Ahead Of World Earth Day, Microsoft Will Release Xbox Controller From Recycled Materials

JAKARTA - As a form of Earth's Day celebration that falls on April 22, Microsoft announced the launch of a recycled plastic-based Xbox controller made of regrind and reclamation materials by a third.

For information, Regrind is a process of mechanically recycling the remaining Xbox One generation controller parts into raw materials that can be used to create a part of the new controller, while maintaining durability and performance.

By combining these regrind materials, post-consumer recycling or combining materials such as plastics and CDs, Xbox is exploring ways to use fewer new plastics and reduce waste.

"Our goal is to bring fans with us on our way to greater sustainability across the Xbox product portfolio," Daniel Ruiz, Senior Marketing Manager, Accessories Xbox wrote in its announcement.

Talking about the color and design selection of this Special Edition Remix controller, Ruiz said that Xbox was inspired by the natural scenery and the physical world around them when designing it.

"The various colors of the earth-tone create a patchwork effect, displaying bright colors that create live but calm vibrations. The green Xbox button is bright, D-pad, and the color of the front casing is inspired by moss found in the Pacific Northwest Forest," he explained.

Meanwhile, the bumper area, triggers, and side handles display a pattern of topographic texture, while maintaining the touch that customers like.

Microsoft will also include an Xbox Recharge Battery Package that will allow you to play without using a single-use battery. You can recharge to full charging for approximately 4 hours. While the battery life is expected to last up to 30 hours per charge.

This limited edition controller is also equipped with a 3.5mm stereo jack headset plug that can be used to install compatible headsets.

The Xbox Wireless Controller Remix Special Edition will be released on April 18. Gamers around the world can preorder at a price of 84.99 US dollars (Rp1.3 million). After launch day, you can check local retailers for product availability in your area.
