Apple Warns Users To Keep IPhones From Their Chest, Why?

JAKARTA - Apple has just issued a warning to its users specifically who have a pacemaker and implant defibrillator to keep their devices away at a safe distance.

"Under certain conditions, the magnetic and electromagnetic fields that usually exist on devices such as iPhones can interfere with machine functions that can be fatal," Apple said in its official blog, quoted on Saturday, April 1.

For example, implantive and defibrillator pacemakers containing sensors and can respond to magnets and radios during contact.

"To avoid the possibility of interaction with this type of medical device, keep your Apple product safe distance from your medical devices (separated more than 6 inches/15 cm or more than 12 inches/30 cm if charged wirelessly)," Apple said.

"Conult your doctor and your medical device manufacturer for special guidelines," he ordered.

According to estimates, about 3 million Americans installed implantive pacemakers and 200,000 people had defibrillators.

A pacemaker is usually installed when a person suffers from a bradicardia, a condition that occurs when the heart beats too slowly.

Then, the device will send an electric pulse to the heart that spurs it to beat at regular speed, as reported by DailyMail.

This warning comes with the release of the iPhone 12 in October 2020. A few months later, the American Heart Association warned about magnets in it.

Now, Apple is updating it by including devices that include its newest iPhone 13 and 14 generation, iPad (Mini, Air, Pro), Airpods, Apple Watch and accessories.

There are also MagSafe, HomePods, Mac (Mini and Pro), Macbook (Air and Pro), iMac, Apple Pro Display XDR, and Beats headphones should also not be placed near someone's chest with implants.

"If you suspect that your Apple product is disturbing your medical device, stop using your Apple products and consult with your doctors and medical device manufacturers," Apple explained.

The Cupertino, US giant emphasized that this warning only applies if its users have medical devices implanted in their bodies.
