Target 19 Gold, Here Are 12 Sports Followed By The Indonesian Contingent At The 2023 Asian Para Games

JAKARTA - The Asian Para Games 2023 will begin to be held in Hangzhou, China from 22-28 October. In the four-year disability sports event, the Indonesian contingent dispatched 266 people.

This number includes 130 athletes, officials, medical and team of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC). All athletes will fight to appear in 12 sports (sports).

Of the 12 sports that were followed, the athletes had a big responsibility because there was a medal target that had to be achieved. The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo previously revealed the final target and gold medal that must be achieved.

"From (Asian) the Indonesian Games hope and have a target of the top 10 with a gold medal of 17 or 19," said the Menpora in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Although the gold medal target exceeds the number of sports participated by the Indonesian contingent, the Menpora is optimistic that athletes can exceed it. Because so far the preparation of the Indonesian contingent is very maximal to face this four-year event.

"So we hope to be achieved and in terms of preparation we see that the contingent of gamers is maximal. And we just pray that we don't miss down but miss upwards," he said.

To welcome the 2023 Asian Para Games which will start this weekend, the Indonesian contingent has departed for Hangzhou, China on Monday, October 16 at 09.00 WIB from Adi Soemarmo International Airport, Solo, Central Java.

The Red and White Team departed for Hangzhou, China using the Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-300 charter plane and arrived at the location on Monday afternoon at 16.00 WIB.
