Falling And Failing To Finish At The Mandalika MotoGP, This Is Jorge Martin's Answer

JAKARTA - Prima Pramac Racing racer Jorge Martin failed to complete the MotoGP race which took place at the Mandalika International Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Saturday, October 14, 2023 at noon WIB. He crashed on lap 13, which forced him to postpone the race.

Martin actually raced in Mandalika to strengthen his position after winning the best position in the sprint. Martin, who is at the top of the standings with a seven-point advantage over Francesco Bagnaia, immediately led the race.

Since grid six, this Spaniard has accelerated and is in pole position when he enters the first corner. Martin looks like he will dominate this 27 lap race

It's just that the situation completely changed when he crashed or fell at corner 11 on lap 13. In fact, he was already three seconds ahead of his rival.

The incident resulted in him withdrawing from the racing arena. Bagnaia immediately coordinated the unstoppable and fastest finishing position.

Marin said the incident occurred when he crossed the dirty track or gratification or soil track when he took the corner 10. The steps he took actually made him fall.

"That's right, it was perfect at first. I started well and then tried to widen the distance," said Martin.

"Then, I saw a distance of 2.8 seconds. I was shocked. I thought, "Ok, I have to stay calm."

"I did expand slightly at Turn 10 and it seems that there is a gravel track. So, when I took the corner 11 like on the previous lap, I lost control. So, it's just bad luck," he said again.

Furthermore, Martin said that if he decided not to brake too deeply so he could keep his distance from the opponent.

"I feel in good condition. And, I don't put the brakes so deep that I can close the track. After all, I have three seconds. I have worked well and will finish the lap," he said.

"But that's how it ended. It must be admitted that it is not easy when you are in front with a distance of only a few seconds and must remain fully concentrated," he said.

That failure made Martin disappointed. Because he failed to finish because of his own mistakes and shouldn't have happened. Even Martin raised his hand and held his head as if he didn't believe he could fall.

"I finished 14 races without mistakes. But this is just statistics. It must be admitted that sooner or later it will happen and in the end it will end up here. But racing is still going on. I am sure and ready to fight to become champions," he asserted.

According to him, it is not a matter of soft front tires that are usually worn by drivers that cause him to fall. In fact, he assessed that the tires did not contribute anything to the incident.

"I am in the best condition and I am satisfied with my speed. I go fast on every track. What is clear is that there is a Dirt track at bend 10 which makes me crash," Martin explained.

The failure at Mandalika made Martin drop to second place with 328 points. Meanwhile, Bagnaia, who took the top position, pocketed the 346 points.

After the Mandalika race, MotoGP 2023 has five series left, with five sprint races and five playing races. They are back racing in MotoGP Australia, Phillip Island, next week.
