Support Oleksandr Usyk Defeat Tyson Fury, George Groves: He's Amazing

JAKARTA - Former super middleweight champion George Groves fully supports Oleksandr Usyk to surprise Tyson Fury in an undeniable heavyweight fight. He even believes in Usyk's ability to beat his opponent.

"This is the hardest game for Usyk (Oleksandr) and it will probably be a tight game, but I think Usyk will win because he is extraordinary," George Groves was quoted as saying by Boxing Scene on Monday, October 9.

The support was expressed by George Groves after an announcement emerged that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk had reached an agreement to fight in the ring.

Regarding the date of the fight, the organizers have not announced it for sure. Because Fury was first scheduled to return to the ring on October 28 in Saudi Arabia to face former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.

With his WBC title, Fury is clearly very favorite to beat Ngannou easily. But on the other hand, for a meeting with Usyk, everyone hopes that Usyk can go home unharmed or injured.

Groves believes Fury has harmed himself by facing an easy opponent in his last two games. In December, Fury dominated and stopped resistance from his opponent, Derek Chisora in their trilogy battle.

"Usyk won. I don't think Fury's series of fights will help him to fight in January, let's say, because the last time he fought Chisora, it was almost like the Magnified sparring," explains Groves.

"He's going to face a UFC fighter, who knows what your mindset is against someone you know is lower than you, so has he trained well? Has he been sharp? Has he had the right sparring?"

"Usyk is extraordinary in terms of his ability to change and adapt. His boxing ability, in my opinion, is superior to anyone in the heavyweight division. What is less than his body size, he can balance it by placing time, placing punches, adjusting feet, tempo and strength," said George Groves.
