7 Kilograms That Make Rahmat Erwin Break The World Record On His Own Name

JAKARTA - Indonesian lifter, Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, managed to present a gold medal for Indonesia at the 2023 Asian Games. He became the best in the 73 kilogram weightlifting sport (kg), Tuesday, October 3.

Rahmat recorded a total lift of 359kg, with details of 158kg during the snatch and 201kg when clean and jerk. In addition to presenting a gold medal, Rahmat also successfully broke the world record in his own name.

Previously, the world record was set by the young Indonesian lifter at the 2022 World Championships. At that time, the total force was 352kg.

Rahmat carried out an lift of 152kg during the snatch and 200kg on clean and jerk, at the event which took place at the end of last year.

In addition to the total record, Rahmat also broke the Asian Games record for clean and jerk lifts. However, for snatches, the Asian Games record is held by Chinese athlete Wei Yinting, with 161kg.

Head of the Achievement Division of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PB PABSI), Hadi Wihardja, said that his party really expected this achievement.

However, he admitted, there is still something that must be improved by Rahmat. That is related to the snatch force called Hadi, which is still the mainstay of Chinese athletes.

"Indeed, we hope that he (Rahmat) can improve his clean and jerk class as a world record holder. However, just a note, he must also be qualified in the type of snatch, because China is very good in snatching," said Hadi Wihardja, as reported by Antara.
