Atletico Madrid Vs Real Madrid 3-1: Alvaro Morata Gemilang, Simeone Praises Griezmann Instead

Alvaro Morata became the main figure behind Atletico Madrid's victory in the derby against Real Madrid. He scored two goals in Atletico's 3-1 win over their city rivals.

In the first four minutes, the Spanish striker managed to open the scoring for the hosts with his accurate header. This goal came after Samuel Lino's perfect cross which gave him the opportunity to break into the opponent's goal from close range.

Not long after, Antoine Griezmann added to Atletico's position by scoring their second goal. Griezmann, who stood unsupervised in Real Madrid's penalty box, sent the ball into the net past Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Toni Kroos gave Real Madrid hope by reducing the gap before the first half ended. His hard shot fell heavily into the bottom corner of Atletico's goal.

However, after the break in the first half, Morata immediately responded with his second goal in this match. He brilliantly directed Saul Niguez's curling pass into goal, secured his brace and returned a two-goal advantage for Atletico.

Despite Real Madrid's efforts, Diego Simeone's strong defense has proven unbeaten. Finally, this is the first defeat for Real Madrid this season.

This result made Atletico move up to fifth place, while Real Madrid remained in third place behind Girona who was in second place.

Although Morata appeared extraordinary, the coach, Diego Simeone, gave praise to Griezmann.

"All the time I've been at this club, we've had great football players, and Griezmann is one of them," Simeone said as quoted in an interview with DAZN, through Marca.

"He has no difficulties in defending and playing according to the game he has to play, that's why he is one of our most important players. He is a reference point for our young players."
