Carlos Sainz Jr's Key to End Ferrari's Thirst and Stop Red Bull Racing's Domination

JAKARTA - Ferrari's thirst for victory in Formula 1 (F1) has finally been quenched. Carlos Sainz Jr delivers Ferrari's first win since July 2022.

Sainz won the Singapore F1 Grand Prix (GP) race, Sunday, September 17. Finally, Ferrari's victory in F1 was presented by Charles Leclerc who won the Austrian GP race last season.

Sainz led from start to finish to win the race at the Marina Bay Circuit. This victory also ended Red Bull's winning streak.

Lando Norris was in second place with his McLaren, while Lewis Hamilton was in third place.

Meanwhile, standings leader Max Verstappen finished fifth at Red Bull. This is the first time the Austrian-based team has failed to win this season, as quoted by AFP via Antara.

Sainz controlled the pace in the evening race brilliantly. Starting the race from pole position, Sainz's performance and Ferrari's clever strategy led them to destroy Red Bull Racing's ambition to win the entire series this season.

"The strategy I used was to give Lando a little DRS push, which helped us to stay behind. This is the strategy you always remember on a track like Singapore," explained Sainz, as quoted by Motorsport.

"The problem is, of course, it's easy to think about and easy to remember. But it's much harder to execute, because it puts you under extra pressure and there are risks," he continued.

Meanwhile, even though he failed to finish on the podium, Verstappen still leads the standings. In fact, the Dutch racer is getting closer to the 2023 F1 world title.
