NOC Temporarily Freezes Indonesia's Table Tennis Membership Status, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) or NOC Indonesia has temporarily suspended the membership status of the Central Board of the Indonesian Table Tennis Association (PP PTMSI).

This was decided through the NOC Indonesia Executive Committee Meeting on August 18, 2023. The decision was then stipulated in the Decree of the Executive Committee Number 30/NOC-INA/KE/2023 concerning the Temporary Dismissal of PP PTMSI Membership.

"NOC Indonesia has sent a letter numbered 8.25.4/NOC-INA/SET2023 regarding the notification of the Decree on the temporary dismissal to PP PTMSI," said Secretary General of NOC Indonesia Wijaya Noeradi in an official statement.

The letter was signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Chairman of the NOC and the Executive Committee and all national federation members of the Indonesian Olympic Committee.

The temporary dismissal of PP PTMSI was taken taking into account the violation of the Articles of Association / Bylaws (AD / ART) and was not limited to actions that violated the principles of Olympism values and the Olympic Movement.

This refers to the statement by the General Chairperson of PP PTMSI Oegroseno in online media which discredits and imposes slander against sports institutions and institutions. This is contrary to AD/ART and Olympic Charter.

NOC Indonesia has officially sent a letter to PP PTMSI regarding this matter, including inviting PP PTMSI in a special meeting on August 16. However, PP PTMSI refused to use its right to attend to defend itself.

"We have given the opportunity to PTMSI, but they refused to attend. Regarding this violation and decision, NOC Indonesia has also sent a letter to ITTF to inform and explain the situation," said Wijaya.
