Just Joined, Ilkay Gundogan Is Already Threatened to Leave Barcelona

JAKARTA - Ilkay Gundogan has the opportunity to leave Barcelona for free in the stock exchange this summer. In fact, he had just been brought in by the Blaugrana from Manchester City.

Gundogan is threatened with leaving Barcelona if he is not registered in the Spanish La Liga. the deadline is four days ahead, according to the Daily Mail.

In the transfer agreement between the German national team player and Barcelona there is a contract clause that allows the player to leave for free if he is not registered immediately.

The contract clause also contains the costs that must be borne by El Barca if Gundogan leaves for free. Barcelona will have to pay Gundogan a year's full wages of £8.6 million if they fail to register the player.

Currently Barcelona is in the middle of a financial crisis and is only able to register 13 players, including Ousmane Dembele and Frank Kessie who will leave, ahead of the opening of La Liga, as quoted from Antara.

Barcelona president Juan Laporta will use the proceeds from the sale of Dembele and Kessie to help the club's budget to be able to register players. In addition, the Blaugrana will also release 16 percent of Barca Studios shares, which is worth 56 million pounds, to an investment company from Germany.

Previously, Barcelona officially announced Gundogan as a new player with a contract until June 30 2025, plus a one-year extension option.

The former Manchester City captain was brought in by the Blaugrana in the transfer market this summer for free after the player was reluctant to extend his contract with The Citizens.

The arrival of the 32-year-old player to the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium is a move from Barcelona to replace Sergio Busquets who decided to leave at the end of the season.
