Responding to the rumors, PSSI Public Relations, Eko Rahmawanto said that the Indonesian football federation was also waiting for an official statement from the Argentine Football Association or AFA.

"We haven't been able to say yes or no about rumors of Messi's absence, because there has been no official statement from AFA. Currently, our position is still waiting for an official answer from them. So until now we still think Messi will come to strengthen Argentina in Jakarta," Eko told VOI, Sunday, June 11, 2023.
