Jose Mourinho's Ambition Of Versus Sevilla's Struggle In The Europa League

JAKARTA - AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho has ambitions to hunt the sixth European trophy in his career. However, he had to face Sevilla's strength to make that happen.

Mourinho will lead Roma to face the Europa League final against Sevilla. This match will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 02.00 WIB at the Puskas Arena, Hungary.

If Roma lifts the trophy in Hungary, Mourinho will pass Italy's successful coach Giovanni Trapattoni, who won five major European trophies in his coaching career.

Mourinho said that his experience in Europe so far has made him feel optimistic that he can give Roma glory in the middle of next week. He feels more and more developed with age and experience.

"Better trainers, better individuals, the same DNA. DNA is motivation, is happiness. The desire for big moments and these are the feelings I try to transmit to the players," said Mourinho.

The coach nicknamed The Special One is recorded to have a track record in the perfect European final. Of the five finals that were led before this, he always took his team out as champions.

The 60-year-old's five European titles began in 2003 when he led Porto to the UEFA Cup, the predecessor of the Europa League, and the following year he won the European Champions League.

Then Inter Milan won the European Champions League under his care in 2010. Following that, Mourinho celebrated his fourth continental trophy in 2017 when he was with Manchester United lifting the European League trophy.

Meanwhile, Mourinho's fifth European trophy was successfully removed last season when he brought Roma to be king in Europe's third caste or Conference League.

"I think you can be better and better with your experience. I think your brain is getting sharper and the accumulation of knowledge becomes better over time," said the Portuguese coach.

"I think you'll stop when you lose motivation. My motivation grows every day. I think I'm better now," added the former Real Madrid coach.

To achieve the target above, Mourinho had to pass Sevilla, who is the king of Europe's second caste competition. The Spanish team has collected six titles or the most from any team.

The title collection is twice as much as Inter Milan, Liverpool, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid. Therefore, Mourinho remains wary of facing Sevilla later.
