AC Milan Vs Inter Milan Champions League Semifinals, Simone Inzaghi: Not The Ordinary Derby Della Madonnina

JAKARTA - Inter Milan will face AC Milan in the 2022/2023 Champions League semifinals. In the first leg, AC Milan will act as host at Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi said this match was not the usual Derby della Madonnina. He realized how important this match was for both clubs.

"This is not an ordinary derby. We know how much this match means to the club, our fans and myself. However, I am very calm because I see the players are very concentrated," said Inzaghi ahead of the match.

This is the first time the two Milan clubs will face each other in European competitions since the quarter-finals in 2005. At that time, AC Milan won the battle.

"Every game has its own story, there are times when we play more attacking and there are times when we play more defensively," said the former Lazio coach, as reported by AFP via Antara.

Inter came to the semifinals with five straight wins in all competitions. Simone Inzaghi's squad has scored 14 goals in five games, with ten in 14 goals scored by Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

Even though his team's performance is good, Inzaghi is still wary of the quality of the AC Milan players even if they are not strengthened by their current mainstay player Rafael Leao due to injury in the match against Lazio last weekend.

"We know the quality of all their players," said Inzaghi.

"We knew maybe he (Leao) wouldn't take part. We might do some prevention, but in general it won't change our game strategy," explained the Italian.
