FIFA's Decision Has Made Shin Tae-yong Restless

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, opened his voice about the cancellation of the draw or the 2023 U-20 World Cup draw. He regretted FIFA's decision to cancel the agenda.

Shin Tae-yong is also worried about FIFA's move. He hopes that Indonesia will continue to host the U-20 World Cup.

"Indeed, I am also nervous and something very unfortunate. I hope that the U-20 World Cup can run smoothly in Indonesia, especially for the advancement of Indonesian football is very important," Shin said as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 27.

"I have also worked hard from 2020 for this U-20 World Cup. So I also want to get results through the World Cup," he continued when met by reporters before leading the training at the Jakarta International Stadium.

Previously, PSSI executive committee member Arya Sinulingga announced that FIFA had canceled the draw for the group participating in the U-20 World Cup even though the world football federation had not yet provided an official letter.

Furthermore, Arya stated, PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir and all his staff will coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the football event in Indonesia.

Although FIFA canceled the draw, sparking speculation about the future of the event in Indonesia, the South Korean coach said the team's preparation process was still going as planned.

However, for training camp activities in South Korea, coach Shin has not been able to confirm that this will continue.

"We are still preparing because there have been no reports that the U-20 World Cup was canceled," said Shin. The U-20 Indonesian national team will actually take part in the U-20 World Cup with the status of host. The last time the Garuda Muda team participated in the competition was in the U-20 Asian Cup which took place in Uzbekistan in early March.

At the event, Indonesia took third place in Group A and failed to advance from the group stage.

However, coach Shin's success in bringing the U-20 national team through to the finals after topping the Group F standings was considered a separate achievement.
