JAKARTA - Technological developments continue to encourage innovation in the automotive industry, where today's cars are increasingly embedded with advanced technology to make it easier for users. Recognizing the importance of this, Honda took a big step by announcing the collaboration of research with two well-known institutions in India, the Indian Institutes of Technology in New Delhi (IIT Delhi) andiri (IIT Juli), to develop more advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

This collaboration aims to further develop Honda's AI-based Cooperative Intelligence (CI) technology, which is designed to increase interaction and understanding between machines and humans," wrote Honda's official statement, Thursday, September 19.

The Indian Institutes of Technology is known as the best researchers and engineers earner. By cooperating with this institution, Honda hopes to accelerate the development of future-focused CI technology, such as reducing traffic accidents and supporting autonomous technology in mobility.

Honda has an ambitious vision to create a society where mobility feels safe and fun for everyone. They are committed to creating accident-free mobility solutions and worry, where everyone can move freely anywhere, anytime.

Currently, Honda is testing the concept of CI-powered micro-mobility vehicles/robots in Joso City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. The collaboration with IIT will explore environmental recognition technology and cooperative behavior, by utilizing cutting-edge AI technology.

This research is not only carried out by Honda experts and IIT professors, but also involves IIT students in the planning, development, and testing processes. This creates a synergy between academics and industry, as well as provides a practical experience for students.

In addition, Honda and IIT will conduct a trial of automated driving technology in the suburbs of Delhi and Mumbai. Traffic conditions in India, which are known to be complex with various types of roads and users, will be a challenge for AI technology that is being developed.

Through this research, Honda and IIT hope to improve CI technology and apply it to driver assistance systems and auto driving technologies in the future, both in India and around the world.

Honda has been actively recruiting IIT graduates since 2019, many of them are now playing an important role in the development of mobility intelligence, including CI research. Through this collaboration, Honda not only accelerates innovation in the AI sector, but also contributes to training future generations of researchers by providing real experiences in AI research and automatic mobility technology.
