Elon Musk: If You Fulfill UAW's Demands, You Will Bankrupt

JAKARTA - The endless chaos between the automotive union or the United Auto Workers (UAW) and three US vehicle manufacturer giants Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis has sparked Elon Musk as well.

Elon Musk said that Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis (Detroit Three) could go bankrupt if they met the demands of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union.

It is known that UAW is on a massive strike against Detroit Three by filing a number of new demands, including a 40% increase in salary and work for 32 hours a week, down from 40 hours at the moment. If Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis obeyed this, Musk believes that all three can face difficult times.

"They want a 40% salary increase and work for 32 hours a week. This is the right way to bring GM, Ford, and Chrysler down to the brink of bankruptcy," he said on his X account.

Musk was provoked to comment after for the first time in history, the US President joined the demonstration with the masses and gave his support to UAW members who went on strike across the United States.

Even in the midst of a demonstration, President Joe Biden said workers deserved a 40% salary increase and other concessions they were looking for.

In 2017, UAW had sought to form a union at a Tesla factory in Fremont in California, but the initiative did not gain enough traction to get votes.

Earlier this year alone, about 25 employees on Tesla's Gigafactory site in Buffalo, New York, who worked in autonomous technology, announced plans to work together with UAW assistance. The day after the announcement, Tesla fired 30 employees on the site, including at least one person who is part of a group of 25 people committed to organizing unions and the rest fired for participating in discussions on the formation of unions.
