In Order To Improve Vehicle Safety, Audi Officially Opens A New Vehicle Safety Center In Germany

JAKARTA - Audi recently revealed the impressive Vehicle Safety Center facility in Ingolstadt, Germany. This magnificent facility took three years for construction and spent around 100 million euros, with about 100 talented employees working in it.

Reporting from Motor1, Monday, September 18, the construction of this facility has the main objective of conducting various types of hit-on tests on Audi's latest models before being introduced to the market.

As Germany's leading automotive manufacturer, Audi has made careful planning to ensure the center can run a hit test that goes beyond current safety standards.

This facility allows Audi to conduct large-scale hit tests and more variations than before. The building is equipped with a wide impact test floor, integrated with advanced high-speed camera technology and the latest LED lighting.

This building is designed with a hit test arena that has various crossing paths, allowing this manufacturer to simulate collisions between two vehicles. In addition, this facility also provides mock laboratories, component testing sites, offices, and workshops.

Not only that, this building also accommodates more than 60 THOR hit test mannequins used in the evaluation. These manekins have various sizes, ranging from representing children aged 18 months to adults. In fact, some of these mannequins are equipped with 150 sensors that collect important data during the hit test.

Audi also emphasized the role of computer simulations in their hit-and-light test, by conducting tens of thousands of simulations of virtual collisions before creating a prototype version of the vehicle.

All of these efforts strengthen Audi's commitment to providing safe vehicles for its consumers. It is known, Audi has focused on safety aspects for more than 80 years. The company even opened its first hit test room in Ingolstadt in 1970, which continues to be used for the next 50 years.

The results of Audi's safety efforts are also seen in the latest Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) assessment, which provides the highest safety title to two Audi models, namely A5 2023 and Q8 2023 which are entitled to the Top Safety Pick+ award, along with several models from other brands.
