Kia's Turn To Hold Anti-Stealing Software Improvement Events

JAKARTA - The theft of Kia and Hyundai brands has spiked sharply in Atlanta, USA, this year, and accounts for 60% of all car thefts in the city.

It is undeniable that the continuous wave of cases of theft of Hyundai and Kia vehicles across North America has eroded the confidence of many vehicle owners and cost sales of the two brands. However, Kia is trying to improve the situation and host a free event to increase anti-steal software last weekend in Atlanta Civic Center.

Previously, in July Hyundai had also offered free anti-stealing software updates to prevent car theft. Hyundai provides mobile service centers in Washington, DC, and hopes to increase the number of these software installations so that more vehicles can be protected from future theft.

Kia held the event held on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in collaboration with the Atlanta Police Department.

Owners of the eligible Kia model can get a free new software installation at this event, while unqualified Kia model owners can pick up a free safety sort key.

Kia claims to be quoted by Carscoops, August 14, that this software update limits vehicle removal system operations and takes only 30 minutes to install.

It is known that more than 575,000 Kia vehicles across the United States have been updated with this new software. Both Kia and Hyundai have launched software updates to improve theft prevention earlier this year, but that hasn't even fully prevented theft.

This update changes the logic of theft alarm software to extend the duration of the alarm from 30 seconds to one minute and requires a lock in the ignition key to turn on the vehicle.

Although cases of theft of Kia and Hyundai brands have increased across the United States, the increase in cases occurred very quickly in Atlanta. In April, the Atlanta Police Department revealed that 60% of all car thefts in the city involved Kia and Hyundai brands, and between January 1 and March 25, 937 car thefts occurred in Atlanta. Of these, 511 stolen vehicles were Hyundai and Kia brands, or experienced a drastic increase from 50 stolen vehicles in the same period the previous year.
