JAKARTA - Volvo Cars, a Swedish-based automotive company, has demonstrated its strong commitment to presenting electrified vehicles in this modern era. Clear evidence can be seen from the outstanding sales surge from this manufacturer.

In July, Volvo recorded impressive sales figures in the United States (US), reaching 10,785 units, an increase of 57 percent compared to the previous year in the same period.

Reporting from InsideEVs, Saturday, August 5, of the total sales, 3,132 units were vehicles with charging systems, representing an increase of 226 percent compared to the previous year in the same period. The electrification segment also managed to contribute 29 percent of the total sales volume.

In detail, of the total 3,132 units of electrified vehicles sold, 1,255 units were vehicles with Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) technology, while vehicles with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) type reached 1,877 units in July.

During 2023, Volvo recorded sales of more than 20,000 units of electrified vehicles in the US, representing 29 percent of total sales volume. In detail, the BEV model sold 8,858 units, while the PHEV reached 11,763 units, with total sales of electrified vehicles reaching 20,621 units.

For the total sales of all models, both gasoline and electrification, Volvo has pocketed 70,535 units during the first seven months of this year, an increase of 23 percent compared to the previous year.

Michael Cottone, President of US and Canadian Volvo Cars, explained that this achievement was driven by growing demand for electric vehicles in the region.

"After the successful launch of our smallest SUV, Volvo EX30, we are committed to continuing to push the switch to electric vehicles completely," Cottone said.

In an effort to increase sales of electric vehicles in the US, Volvo also plans to launch a 2024 model of the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge, with more attractive specifications than the 2023 model.

Setelah XC40 Recharge dan C40 Recharge, pabrikan terkenal dengan sistem keselamatan ini akan memperluas jajaran kendaraan listriknya dengan memperkenalkan EX90 dan EX30.

The US market will be the stage for Volvo EX30, a compact SUV that offers the advantages of electric vehicles at affordable prices, starting from 36,145 US dollars or around Rp.543.5 million. This price includes shipping costs.

Like colleagues in the automotive industry, Volvo also has ambitious plans to present more electric vehicle models by 2030.
