Colosseum Discotheque, Received Anies Award But BNN Prohibited

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud) awarded the 2019 Tourism Adikarya award to 31 business service providers in the tourism sector.

The 2019 Adikarya Wisata Award night was held at the JW Marriott Hotel, Mega Kuningan Area, South Jakarta, on December 6.

One of the award nominations, namely the Entertainment and Recreation category of clubs and discotheques, went to the Colosseum Jakarta. Colosseum is a nightclub that is attached to Hotel 1001 in the Taman Sari area, West Jakarta.

"The Adikarya Wisata award has 31 categories, one of which is a discotheque. It is regulated in the law that the discotheque is one of the tourism businesses. (Award) the discotheque won the Colosseum," said Alberto at the City Hall, DKI Jakarta, Friday December 13th.

Alberto said the award appraisal process includes administrative selection, performance appraisal, and final assessment by visiting the nominees' places of business.

However, it was later discovered that the Colosseum 1001 was one of the three recommended nightclubs to close. This recommendation came from the DKI Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP).

BNNP DKI raided Colosseum 1001 on Sunday, September 8. As a result, they secured 34 visitors who tested positive for narcotics after taking the Urine Test. 19 of them were men and 15 were women.

Not only that, the DKI BNNP secured three security guards and four unscrupulous members of the TNI who were involved in drug trafficking with 2,274 ecstasy items. They were secured in room number 301, a nightclub located in Taman Sari District, West Jakarta.

In his statement, Head of DKI BNNP, Brigadier General Tagam Sinaga, said that his party had made recommendations to the Tourism and Culture Office regarding the findings.

"Since several weeks ago we have given letters of recommendation. As before, if there is drugs there will be closure," said Tagam, Monday, December 9.

Furthermore, when the Acting Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Office Alberto Ali was asked about the recommendation from the BNNP, he was reluctant to answer.

The revocation of this business license is carried out without going through the stages of the first written warning, the second written warning, the third written warning and the temporary suspension of business activities.
