Member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PKS faction, Abdul Aziz, assessed that WFH cannot be forced on all companies in Jakarta.
"I don't think it can be forced. Its nature is sufficient as a recommendation," said Aziz via text message, Tuesday, December 17.
According to him, even though WFH is implemented, the DKI Provincial Government must ensure that community services in various sectors continue. This indicates that there are some employees who still need to work in the office.
"WFH doesn't have to be 100 percent. Maybe 50 percent of employees take turns," added Aziz.
In line with Abdul Aziz, a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PSI faction, Justin Adrian Untayana, also supports this policy. He assessed that WFH can help reduce the bad effects of flooding, such as severe congestion and the risk of damage to residents' vehicles.
"In addition, WFH can also provide wider space for Water Resources Service officers to reach areas that are starting to be inundated," said Justin.
However, Justin reminded that this policy cannot be implemented thoroughly for all companies.
"We cannot generalize the capabilities of each company in implementing this WFH recommendation. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government should not impose this policy," explained Justin.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government stated that it would issue a circular that contained an appeal to companies to allow employees to work from home when the flood occurred.
"If it is a flood, later we will issue a circular such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will write circulars to offices so that from the side of employers and workers it is clear," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy (Nakertransgi) Agency, Hari Nugroho.

Even so, WFH as a solution when flooding remains a challenge in its implementation, especially regarding the diversity of needs and readiness of companies in Jakarta.
