JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani congratulated TNI General Agus Subiyanto for being approved as TNI Commander in a plenary meeting today. Puan hopes that General Agus can be trusted in carrying out his duties at the helm of the TNI.

Puan said that the DPR would then wait for President Joko Widodo to inaugurate Jenderak Agus Subiyanto, which is scheduled for tomorrow. Regarding the time and location, the chairman of the PDIP DPP assesses that only the President knows.

"Today, the Indonesian House of Representatives has given approval for the dismissal and replacement of the next TNI commander, on behalf of General TNI Agus Subiyanto, who God willing, will be sworn in tomorrow. Where and at what time, please ask the President," said Puan, Tuesday, November 21.

Puan hopes that TNI General Agus Subiyanto can carry out his duties as TNI Commander properly and safely, especially ahead of the 2024 General Election.

"This means, God willing, we will have a new TNI commander to work for. Hopefully we can work well and be trustworthy," he concluded.

The plenary session approved General TNI Agus Subiyanto as TNI Commander replacing Admiral Yudo Margono who will retire at the end of November.

The approval was taken after hearing a report from the Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Meutya Hafid, over the passing of General Agus in a fit and proper test last week.

"After listening, considering the views of the factions and also all members of Commission I of the DPR against the candidate for commander of the TNI and in accordance with the provisions of Article 308 Paragraph 2 of the DPR RI Regulation Number 1 of 2020 concerning Order, which states that decision making in the DPR meeting is based or carried out by deliberation for consensus. So Commission I of the DPR RI decided two points, the first, approved the honorable dismissal of Admiral TNI Yudo Margono as TNI Commander," said Meutya at the DPR Plenary Meeting, Tuesday, November 21.

"Pin dua, gave approval for the appointment of the candidate for TNI commander General Agus Subiyanto (held) as TNI Commander," he continued.
