Gibran Denies His Mother Is Cawe-cawe For The Position Of Vice President

SOLO - First Lady Iriana Jokowi is rumored to be the one who encouraged her sons to enter politics, especially the advancement of Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate.

Iriana was also rumored to have smoothed the way for her eldest son to become vice presidential candidate through the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK), which at that time was chaired by her sister-in-law, Anwar Usman. The Constitutional Court finally made a decision that allowed regional heads to become presidential or vice presidential candidates even though they were not yet 40 years old.

Responding to the issue, Gibran denied the news circulating. He said this was just gossip that should not be trusted.

"No, it (did become a vice presidential candidate because of Iriana's desire). (The buy from Iriana) Not really," said Gibran at Solo City Hall, Central Java, Monday, November 20.

He also asked the media crew who asked where the news came from. The eldest son of President Jokowi said that if it only came from social media (medsos), then the issue is not something that can be trusted.

"About mothers, I think it's just gossip, right, there's no need to exaggerate. The reference period is social media, what account? Fake accounts should not be trusted and immediately used as news. Gossip is just gossip," he said.

He also denied that his mother did not like the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri and both of them had a bad relationship as reported by social media.

"No. Just like it," he answered briefly.

Not only about the issue surrounding Jokowi's first lady, but Gibran also denied the news that said that his wife, Selvi Ananda, did not approve of him being a vice presidential candidate.

"Where does the gossip come from. From social media too?" said Gibran.

Gibran also said that his wife always supports the steps he takes. He emphasized that the support given by his wife and mother was in the form of prayer.

"Support in the form of prayer," he concluded.
