JAKARTA - Unexpectedly, the serial number of the presidential candidate pair and vice presidential candidate (candidate-vice presidential candidate) for the 2024 presidential election taken in the draw has the same number as one of the supporting political parties.

The serial number 1 obtained by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar is the same as the serial number of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg).

Then, the number 2 taken by Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka is the same as the Gerindra Party. Then, the number 3 obtained by Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD is the same as the PDI Perjuangan.

Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari emphasized that his party did not carry out any engineering in regulating the draw and serial number collection mechanism.

"We both witnessed it, we took queues. Each after getting queues, we took their own choices. It can't be predicted. There is no (settings)," said Hasyim at the KPU RI office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 14.

Hasyim then explained the next stage that will be carried out by the presidential and vice presidential candidates. On Monday, November 27, 2023, the three candidate pairs will make a declaration of peaceful elections before the campaign is implemented.

"On November 27, the KPU will hold a declaration of peaceful elections. On November 28, 2023, a campaign will begin," explained Hasyim.

Tonight, the presidential and vice presidential candidates have drawn serial numbers for the 2024 presidential election. As a result, Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar received number one, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka received number two, and Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD received number three.

When opening the tube containing the serial number, the pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates compactly greeted their fingers. Anies-Cak Imin raised his index finger, Prabowo-Gibran brandished two fingers such as the peace symbol, and Ganjar-Mahfud raised three fingers like metal greetings.

This draw mechanism is divided into two stages. Taking queue numbers to take serial numbers is carried out by the vice president. The vice presidential candidate who takes the first queue number is the one who registers first to the KPU. Furthermore, the candidate pair number is taken by the presidential candidate.

The serial number obtained by the presidential and vice presidential candidates was immediately recorded by the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari. Hasyim then read out the determination.

"Thus, the number of presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs for the 2024 General Election is number one for candidate pairs Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, number two for candidate pair Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, number three for candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD," explained Hasyim.

The Anies-Muhaimin (AMIN) pair is supported by NasDem, PKB and PKS political parties. Ganjar-Mahfud is supported by the PDI-P political parties (PDIP), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the Hanura Party.

Meanwhile, Prabowo-Gibran is promoted/supported by the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Garda Party of the Republic of Indonesia (Garuda), and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
