Pedicab Driver Killed By Car, Perpetrator Arrested And Becomes Suspect

JAKARTA - It's tragic that a pedicab rider with the initials RL (65) died on the spot after being hit by a car driver with the initials DSW (39) on Jalan Pramuka, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

As a result of the incident, the victim RL suffered injuries to the head and right hand. Meanwhile, the perpetrator was arrested by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit.

Kasatlantas Polres Metro Central Jakarta, Kompol Gomos Simamora said the perpetrator with the initials DSW had been detained and named a suspect.

"It has been (determined as a suspect)," said Kompol Gomos when confirmed, Sunday, November 12.

The perpetrator with the initials DSW faces a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison or a maximum fine of Rp. 24 million for his actions.

"The perpetrator is subject to Article 311 paragraph 5," said Kompol Gomos.

The accident began when the Toyota Calya car driven by the suspect DSW was traveling on the fast lane from west to east of Jalan Pramuka, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta on Saturday, November 11. The car then hit the rickshaw cart which resulted in the victim's death.
