Denny Indrayana: Chief Justice Of MKMK Has Integrity And Capacity

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Denny Indrayana said that Chief Justice of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court Jimly Asshiddiqie has the capacity and integrity in handling cases of alleged violations of the code of ethics by the Constitutional Court judge.

"So in terms of capacity, integrity, and track record, we have hope for Professor Jimly," Denny said in an online discussion themed "Consecution of the Constitutional Court Decision", Saturday, November 4.

According to him, although Jimly's political preferences are inclined towards one of the presidential candidates, his performance in handling cases of alleged violations of the code of ethics by the Constitutional Court judge should be appreciated.

"The performance of the Chief Justice of the MKMK, Jimly Asshiddiqie, so far, in my opinion, with this short time, he has tried to take the best steps," he said.

Denny said that in resolving the case, the Constitutional Court should not just impose ethical violations on the Constitutional Court judges.

However, according to him, the MKMK's decision could also have an impact on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding case number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 which stipulates the age limit for presidential/cawapres candidates at least 40 years or once/in the position chosen through general elections including regional head elections.

"So the decision (MK) based on violations of morality and ethics should also be considered to be canceled," Denny said as quoted by Antara.

In the online discussion, PPP DPP Chairman Achmad Baidowi also believed that MKMK Chairman Jimly Asshiddiqie would give a professional decision.

"I personally believe Prof. Jimly can separate personal and group interests, the interests of state administration are much higher than those of personal and group interests," Baidowi said.

The Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) will submit a decision regarding the alleged violation of the code of ethics by the Constitutional Court judge on Tuesday (7/11).

The Constitutional Court received 21 reports related to the alleged violation related to the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the presidential/cawapres age limit.
