DPR Leadership Has No Problem With Agus Subiyanto Being Proposed As TNI Commander Although He Has Just Been Appointed Army Chief Of Staff

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DPR for Politics and Security, Lodewijk F Paulus, has no problem with President Joko Widodo's proposal to propose TNI General Agus Subiyanto as a candidate for TNI commander to replace Admiral Yudo Margono.

General Agus was just appointed as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) on October 25.

"Actually no, because like this, I'm a former soldier, so until we are promoted to colonel the rank is regulated. Only one April is allowed or one October, up to colonel. After becoming a general, that rule no longer exists, so today he said he served in the army "Position first comes rank, for example yesterday the new Army Chief of Staff dropped his 4 stars, not rank first then position. But position first comes rank," said Lodewijk at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 31.

After receiving a rank, continued Lodewijk, a high-ranking officer is no longer bound by the rules (1/4-1/10) including position. Maybe if we look at this, it's still okay. "So this process is actually nothing strange," he continued.

However, the retired TNI officer believes that General Agus Subiyanto has a good track record to become TNI commander replacing Admiral Yudo Margono.

"People who have reached three stars have a good track record, right? Now how many people are three stars? This means they have gone through natural selection," said Lodewijk.

"Of course the President chose Agus Subianto, a TNI general who happens to be Deputy Chief of Army Staff. This means that if we talk about track record, there is no doubt," he added.
