Hitting The Rules, Danny Pomanto Resigns From The Chairman Of The Ganjar-Mahfud Regional Campaign

Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) finally chose to resign as the Head of the Regional Campaign Team for the presidential and vice-presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD so that it would not become a problem and obey the applicable rules.

"Perhaps this is an option, I will resign as mayor or shift (resign the chairman) but still play a role, but I should not be the chairman of the problem later. We give the young," Danny Pomanto was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

The position of Chairman of the Regional Campaign (TKD) will be handed over to young millennials who are considered qualified.

"It was agreed yesterday, I was summoned at the center. We give it, because this is a millennial match, so we give millennials. Wait for the game date (declaration), we will announce it officially later," he continued.

"Anyway, millennials, head of the campaign team. Because this is a millennial fight, we are aware that we will be the millennials," Danny said speaking of the criteria for the chairman of TKD Ganjar.

According to him, from recorded population data, the current population is dominated by millennials nationally, around 52 percent, from generation Z to millennials, so this becomes a large market share and becomes a youth battle.

"So politically friends understand that the winning team for the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD area is very straightforward to invite generations to participate in this politics, including appointing the TPD to replace me," he said.

Chairman of the Makassar City Bawaslu Dede Arwinsyah has reminded regional heads, mayors and deputy mayors not to be the Chair of the Campaign Team for Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates in the Presidential Election (Pilpres) February 14, 2024.

"The rules are that regional heads, governors, deputy governors, regents, deputy regents, mayors and deputy mayors are prohibited from becoming chairman of the campaign team," said Dede.

The regulation is contained in Article 64 of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 15 of 2023 concerning Election Campaigns. Therefore, his party appealed to regional heads not to be part of the campaign team for candidates for Vice Presidential Candidates.

Previously, the Mayor of Makassar Moh Ramdhan Pomanto was asked to be the Head of the Winning Team for the Presidential Candidate Ganjar Pranowo during a closed meeting with the coalition of political parties carrying him at his private residence on Jalan Amrirullah Makassar on Thursday, October 5, 2023.

The meeting was attended by a number of leaders of the South Sulawesi regional political parties such as from the PDI-P as the initiator, the United Development Party (PPP) of the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo) and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).
