The Lembata Police of the East Nusa Tenggara Police have arrested three suspects on suspicion of sexual abuse of minors that occurred on October 16, 2023. Lembata Police Chief AKBP Josephien Vivick Tjankung explained that the three suspects detained by the Lembata Police Criminal Investigation Unit were GRS (41), LN (41), and WI (53). The incident began on October 16, 2023 at around 20.30 WITA. The victim of RSA (13) and his friend GY (14) met behind Wunopito Airport, Lewoleba, Lembata Regency. Both are lovers. At that time, the three suspects were also at the location and deliberately interrupted the meeting of the two teenagers. Victims and girlfriends are threatened if they do not hand over Rp4 million in peace money, their romance story will be reported to the police. The two frightened teenagers agreed to resolve the problem peacefully. The GRS suspect ordered GY to find the ransom. While on his way to a hut near the location, the suspect LN threatened RSA that if GY did not bring the money he would have to serve the three of them. When they arrived at the hut, the suspect LN again threatened RSA and finally, the victim was treated indecently by the three suspects in turn. Lembata Police Chief, AKBP Josephien Vivick Tjankung said, based on the results of the investigation, it was known that the three suspects were a group that had done the same thing to other victims several times. "Investigators are still digging into other motives that may be behind the actions of the suspects," said Josephien Vivick Tjankung, quoted from Antara. He added that investigators had also provided trauma healing assistance to victims who were still struggling with their psychological condition after this tragic event.

The Lembata Police Chief also reminded all parents of the importance of actively supervising and protecting their children to avoid similar dangers.
