7 Distribution Of Monkeypox Cases In DKI Jakarta

YOGYAKARTA Director General of Disease Prevention and Control Dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu found the distribution of monkeypox cases in DKI Jakarta.

As is known, there have been cases of monkeypox or Mpox in Indonesia. In fact, this case has become a concern throughout October.

The discovery of the first case of monkeypox in Jakarta occurred in August 2022. However, the case was lost because there were no additional patients. However, on October 13, 2023, there were patients who had cases of monkeypox.

Cases re-emerged on October 19, 2023. There were even four other cases that followed, namely on October 21, 2023. All patients who had male monkeypox with an age range of between 25 and 35 years.

"Based on the results of laboratory examinations, until now we have found 7 confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Indonesia this year. All confirmed cases were found in the DKI Jakarta area," said Dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu in a written statement received by reporters, Monday, October 23.

In addition, Dr. Maxi also detailed that the distribution of Mpox cases found in DKI Jakarta is as follows.

Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, as many as six monkeypox patients in DKI Jakarta are people who have HIV or ODHIV and at the same time have bisexual orientation.

Currently, all patients suffering from monkeypox are undergoing intensive treatment in isolation rooms in several hospitals in DKI Jakarta. They will be treated until the wound is perfect dry.

Monkeypox is an infectious disease caused by a virus that is similar to smallpox. Symptoms of monkeypox are usually characterized by fever, lymph node swelling, and lesion-like rash. Lesi itself can appear in the genital area, anus, and other areas.
