Polda Metro Jaya Still Handling The Alleged Case Of SYL Extortion Even Though Firli Bahuri Was Examined At The Criminal Investigation Unit

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri will undergo an investigation related to the alleged extortion case by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) at Bareskrim Polri Tuesday, October 24.

Even though they were examined at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Polda Metro Jaya emphasized that they would still handle the case.

"The handling of the case is still being handled by the Polda Metro Jaya," said Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak when contacted Tuesday, October 24.

Ade added that the examination at Bareskrim was Firli's personal wish. He said he would continue to investigate the case.

"Only specifically for the examination, the Dittipidkor Bareskrim Polri will be carried out," he said.

Firli himself is scheduled to undergo an examination at 10.00 WIB. Ade admitted that he had coordinated with investigators regarding this matter.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that it had handled reports of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

The report is in the form of a public complaint (dumas). Currently, the case has gone up to the investigation stage after his party conducted a case title on October 6, 2023.

In the case title, Polda Metro Jaya found allegations of corruption cases in the form of extortion or receipt of gratuities or receipt of gifts or promises by civil servants or state administrators related to handling legal problems at the Ministry of Agriculture from 2020 to 2023.

Polda Metro Jaya has also examined a number of witnesses related to the case. As of Monday (23/10/2023) Polda Metro Jaya has examined 52 witnesses in this case, including former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, personal driver SYL, personal aide SYL, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK for the 2007-2011 period Mochammad Jasin, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK for the 2015-2019 period Saut Situmorang, Director of Public Reports and Complaints (Dumas) Tomi Murtomo, Aide de Camp (ADC) or aide to the Chairman of the KPK Kevin Egananta, and Semarang Police Chief Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar who is also the husband of SYL's nephew.
