Fire Extinguishing At The Rawa Cat TPA Is Still Ongoing, BNPB Deploys Water Bombing Helicopters

TANGERANG - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) deployed a Water Boombing Helicopter unit to extinguish the fire at the Rawa Cat TPA, Neglasari, Tangerang City.

"Yes, this morning the operation has started, the target is 50 water drops (adjusting to the field situation)," said Head of the Center for Disaster Data, Information and Communication of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari in a short message, Monday, October 23.

Abdul said water bombing helicopters carried 4 tons of water in handling fires at the Rawa Cat TPA, Neglasari, Tangerang City.

"About 4 tons per one bombing, 800 liters of water/dropping volume," he said.

When asked about the estimated fire fighting, Abdul admitted that he could not convey it because he had to see the situation on the ground later.

"Looking at today's situation, the helicopter has just arrived, while bombing is also tapping the terrain and the situation is on fire, later this afternoon it can be estimated that the operation is long," he concluded.

Tangerang City Regional Secretary, Herman Suwarman said, on the fourth day of the Rawa Cat TPA fire, there were still quite crucial hotspots at door 3.

"We still find many crucial points or hotspots at door three. Therefore, the extinguishing process is carried out both by land and air. Like today, from BNPB, water bombing helicopters will first handle extinguishing at door three," he said.

The water bombing helicopter will carry out a blackout process of three shifts from morning to evening, with one shift of 75 flights.

"It will be focused first on door three. Of course this is our effort to speed up the blackout process at the Rawa Cat TPA," he said.
