This Is The Reason Mahfud Told Ma'ruf Before Jokowi's Announcement To Be Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD revealed the reason for first informing Vice President Ma'ruf Amin rather than President Jokowi about his appointment as a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election.

Mahfud was appointed as the vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar in a meeting with PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri last night. The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court then met the Vice President this morning.

"Mr. Ma'ruf Amin, I met at half past 7. Why, I should have gone to the president first, right, when I was told yesterday, I should have gone to the president, because the president went abroad, I went to the vice president first," said Mahfud at the Kemenkopolhukam office. Jakarta, Wednesday 18 October.

President Jokowi is currently on a trip to China. The head of state began a working visit to China and was then scheduled for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia since taking off from Soekarno Hatta International Airport on Monday, October 16.

Mahfud said there was no special reason for him to meet the Vice President this morning. According to him, his arrival met the Vice President limited to saying goodbye and informing him that he was appointed as a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar.

"Yes, I told you, there really doesn't have to be a permit for that, it just tells," he said.

Mahfud admitted that he would continue what Ma'ruf had initiated in the vice president's seat if he was elected with Ganjar's presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

"If Mr. Ma'ruf Amin is here, I say goodbye, because fellow boats are fellow NU, so I said, 'Pak Kiai, I want to continue the struggle of Ahlussunnah wal jamaah in the field of state administration, in the field of Indonesian political fiqh which has been initiated and built by our scholars, the last 5 years was carried out by Kiai Ma'ruf Amin, then I will continue, hopefully," said Mahfud.
