KPU Does Not Prepare Plans To Respond To The Constitutional Court Rejecting The 35-Year Presidential Candidate-Cawapres Age Lawsuit

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari admitted that he had not prepared a plan related to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the minimum age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

"We haven't prepared anything, various possibilities, yes, say before today, there are those who predict or analyze the possibility. Two decisions are granted or rejected. So we don't prepare anything," said Hasyim at the KPU Media Center, Jakarta, Monday, October 16, confiscated by Antara.

Even so, his party also monitored the Constitutional Court's trial regarding the lawsuit for the judicial review of the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates which was decided today.

"Of course we from the KPU team monitor, monitor the progress of the trial," he said.

Hasyim said that since the beginning the KPU had not been invited or involved in the case filed by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the Garuda Party, and a number of regional heads.

For that, he emphasized, his party did not prepare any plans if the lawsuit was granted.

The judicial review of the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates proposed by a number of parties was officially rejected by the Constitutional Court.

Thus, the provisions for the age limit for the presidential and vice-presidential candidates still refer to the Election Law Number 7 of 2017 which states that the minimum age requirement or age of the vice presidential candidate is even 40 years.
