Disrupted By Smoke, 2 Flights To Muara Taweh, Central Kalimantan Forced To Be Canceled

MUARA TAWEH - Flight from and to Haji Muhammad Sidik Muara Teweh Airport, North Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan, was canceled because it was again disturbed by the smog. "Today there are two airlines that canceled flying to Muara Teweh, due to thick smoke again," said Haji Muhammad Sidik Airport Head Endang Setiawan in Muara Teweh, Antara, Friday, October 13. According to him, the airline that canceled it flew to Muara Teweh was Wings Air to Banjarmasin-Muara Teweh and Airfast flights on the Balikpapan-Muara Teweh route. The cancellation of this flight is because Haji Muhammad Sidik Airport is a visual airport, so visibility is needed for about 5,000 meters. Meanwhile, today's visibility from morning to noon is only 500 meters and in the afternoon is about 900 meters. "Because it is not safe for flights, the two routes were canceled today," said Endang. Endang said that the cancellation of this flight made 63 passengers from Wings Air from Banjarmasin and 62 passengers from Muara Teweh and 11 passengers from Muara Teweh cancel leaving for Balikpapan. Some of the passengers canceled flights and continued their journey using road transportation to each destination city which took a relatively long time of around 9-13 hours.

"The flight schedule is still there every day, but depending on the visibility of the smog, hopefully tomorrow the weather will improve," said Endang Setiawan.
