Called By Jokowi To Immediately Go To Jakarta, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin's Visit In Papua Is Accelerated

JAKARTA - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin ended a series of work offices in Papua earlier than scheduled, because he had to immediately return to Jakarta to fulfill the invitation for a sudden meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"The vice president, who was originally scheduled to visit Wamena and Merauke, had to be postponed because there was a limited meeting invitation with the President in Jakarta," said Spokesperson for the Vice President, Masduki Baidlowi at a press conference in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Thursday, October 12.

The announcement also canceled a series of working visits by the Vice President on the fourth and fifth days of office in Tanah Papua.

Based on the schedule issued by the Vice Presidential Secretariat, today the Vice President is planned to leave for Papua Mountains to lay the first stone for the infrastructure of the Papua Province of the Mountains at 10.15 WIT.

There, the Vice President is scheduled to meet with a number of traditional leaders, who are located in Wamena as the capital city of the Papua Province of the Mountains.

"The Vice President's visit to Wamena is for the completeness of all provinces, 38 provinces. All provinces have been visited by the Vice President, lastly Wamena," he said.

In addition to canceling the Wamena, the Vice President also failed to fulfill a working visit to Merauke in the afternoon for the signing of the inscription at the South Papua Provincial Government's infrastructure center.

The schedule for the Vice President's return to Jakarta was originally scheduled to take place on the fifth day, Friday tomorrow, as well as closing the entire series of office agendas in Papua.

As previously reported, the Vice President was accompanied by his wife Wury Ma'ruf Amin and a group of based presidential animals at the Papua Governor's Building, Jayapura City, since last Monday.

For three days in Papua, the Vice President and his entourage have gathered the aspirations of residents from a number of community groups, including human rights leaders, sports leaders, religious leaders, and businessmen to accelerate economic development and welfare in the local area.
