JAYAPURA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said the right to customary land must be respected in various steps to accelerate development in Papua.
"Once again, I emphasize that the ranks of ministries/agencies, local governments and all stakeholders continue to build cooperation with indigenous peoples in Papua to ensure respect for customary rights in various steps to accelerate Papua's development," said Ma'ruf Amin in his remarks at the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building. Jayapura City, Papua reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.
The Vice President ordered the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) to immediately complete certification of all land parcels in Papua.
"I ask the ATR/BPN ministries and local governments to increase the number of land parcels registered and given certificates, as well as complete the target for registration and certification of land in all provinces in Papua," he said.
Ma'ruf handed over 102 land certificates resulting from the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) program to the Papuan people.
Ma'ruf said the land registration process needed to be carried out properly and accurately, because certificates are a source of information for interested parties, including the government. "So, the required data can be obtained quickly and easily," he said.
The vice president also ordered the relevant authorities to provide legal certainty guarantees for the right to community land by maintaining the sustainability of the PTSL program and providing support in the form of budget assistance, facilities, and human resources (HR).
